Why Family Dining Is So Important In Building A Stronger Bond Between Family Members

Generations ago, family dining was something that was usually experienced on a nightly basis. Families sat down together as a family and had a meal together. Usually this was the dinner or "supper" meal. During this time, they discussed the day's events, and addressed any problems or issues someone may have. At this time no one involved considered it an appointment or chore, it was something that was just done and done together. Unfortunately, the majority of families no longer have the family dining experience. We use the excuse of being too busy, having different schedules, and just not having the time to all sit down together at once. Sadly, many do not see why this experience is so important to still experience.

The family dining experience is still so important, as it brings family together. The experience is not only beneficial to the children and young adults involved, but to the entire family. Since every one's life is so stressful and fast paced, by slowing down, having a meal, and catching up, it allows everyone to clear their head and regroup. It also allows you to leave the table knowing that there are people who truly care about you and support you in your endeavors. People that we can call at the drop of a hat, cry to, yell at, are there whenever we need them. Since the world is now so stressful and face paced, without the family dining experience we tend to forget all that we have in life. This kind of environment also encourages everyone involved to talk and to trust. This is especially beneficial for children. There may be something on a child's mind that they have not found the right time to talk about. Often these issues arise at the family dining table. Children also feel loved and comfortable enough to bring the subject up at this time.

If you no longer practice a family dining experience, consider bring it back to your family. You may have a difficult time getting everyone on board due to crazy and stressful lives, but once you do you will all be able to reap the benefits as a family. Your family will then look forward to experiencing the next one. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a tradition that will never be thrown to the wayside again because of busy schedules.
