3 Ways To Live In London, Stay Fit And Healthy And Still Enjoy The City

Living in the capital city of England is a fantastic experience. It might cost a small fortune to find suitable accommodation and living expenses are higher than most other places in the country, but the actual experience of living in one of the most popular cities in the world is second to none.

As costs are particularly high in the city, a lot of the jobs tend to pay well, but they expect their employees to work hard for their pay, meaning that spare time is minimal.

Due to this, it's easy to fall into the trap of skipping breakfast, buying a pre-packed sandwich for lunch and then grabbing a microwave meal or takeaway for dinner.

These may all be great ways to allow yourself more time to work, but they'll do nothing at all for your diet and after a few weeks you'll start to feel the effects of skipping meals and living on products that are full of saturated fats, including putting on weight.

So what can be done?

First off, you need to sit down, plan your daily work schedule and consider signing up to any of the gyms in London. It's never condoned to eat particularly fatty foods, but if you're going to struggle to change all of your diet, then you need to offset these fatty foods by working out.

Gyms in London are in abundance and most are open from early in the morning to late at night, so don't think because you work 8.00am to 7.00pm you won't be able to go.

Secondly, you need to put aside a small amount of time each night before you go to bed to prepare your dinner for the following day.

A little bit of what you shouldn't have - in this instance, a takeaway - is always good for you, but having something you shouldn't every night really isn't.

And what most people find surprising is that they don't have to eat unhealthily if they can find a few minutes to prepare their next meal prior to having it.

For example, if you would normally have a spicy chicken pizza, you can make one yourself relatively simply by purchasing some pizza dough (or if you have time, making your own is really easy), adding tomato puree, a small amount of cheese, some cooked chicken pieces and fresh chillies. Including the preparation time and cooking, you could create a whole pizza in 30 minutes and it would simply need heating the following day - something which could be done whilst you showered, for example.

Moving on to the third and final point, London is a city that is particularly compact and most places in the city centre itself are within a short walking distance from each other.

So why is it that you get the tube so much or jump on the nearest bus?

Yes, it may be a lot quicker, but by setting off from home 10 minutes earlier, you could ditch the transport and walk to work - it's not only healthier, but it will save you a lot of money, too.

Living in London doesn't mean you have to be unhealthy and whist it may be the simplest choice to live off prepared meals and not exercise, with a bit of planning time, you can turn yourself into a exercising-home cooking city dweller in no time.
