Take A Trip To A Health Club For A More Upscale Way To Get Fit And Healthy

If you're looking to lose weight, get fit and stay healthy, the most obvious option is to sign up to a gym, attend three of four times a week and take up walking, too - at least 30 minutes a day.

In addition, you would also look at implementing a new diet, which would generally include planning and preparing meals in advance so that they include a selection of the different food groups and where possible, your meals would all be homemade.

Whilst there is no doubt that this in itself is a great way to lose weight, there is another option, one that has somewhat of an upscale aura about it.

Health clubs have been around for decades and whilst they may have been upgraded and developed over the years, their primary purpose is still there - to provide their customers with the best health and fitness services that they can.

If you have never been to a health club before, then it's understandable if you think they're not for you.

In the movies, they come across as being just like spas, where their clients lounge around all day getting pampered, having massages and do next to no actual exercise.

You want to lose weight, so you want to go to a gym where you can run for miles or lift weights and a health club just won't allow you to do this, right?

Wrong - health clubs are so much more than you think that it's difficult to know where to start.

The first thing you have to note about health clubs is they are different to gyms, so if you're going, you shouldn't be expecting the same lay out (the clue is in their names - a gym is short for a gymnasium, where there will usually be lots of pieces of equipment and a health club is just that - a club to help your health).

One of the first points you'll notice as you walk around a health club is that there will seem to be a lot more equipment and services available than you could ever have imagined, covering almost any health topic.

From swimming pools to deep massage therapy rooms and stream rooms to the - somewhat expected and hoped for - gym, there really is something for everyone.

And the two things that you won't find in most gyms around the country that you will in health clubs are detox services and dedicated cafes and restaurants.

Remember, a big part of losing weight (and keeping it off) is to change your diet and so it would seem a waste of time going to a health club to cleanse your body and start to increase your levels of fitness only to spoil it at lunch by having a sandwich that's high in salts and saturated fats.

At health clubs, you can generally expect to find extremely healthy variations of most cafe or restaurant meals, which although might not be what you are used to, will be a lot better for your body.

Attending a health club is something that you might not feel particularly fond of to start with, but chances are as soon as you step through the door, you'll realise just how beneficial they can be to helping you lose weight and keeping it off.
