Why is it so hard for women to loose weight after they turn 40?
Metabolism is the process of breaking down nutrients in the body and using the now changed nutrients to fuel your bodies systems and to build and repair new and existing tissue and organs. Your body burns calories to do this process and any calories not used are stored as fat.
When a women turns 30 her metabolism starts to slow down. If she does nothing about it, by the time she turns 40 her metabolism will have slowed by 2 - 4 %. Her metabolism will continue to slow down another 2 - 4 % every 10 years.
How do you change the direction of your calorie burn?
You can start by changing your diet. Some recommendations to boost your metabolism is to try eating 5 smaller meals instead of 3 big meals. Also I've heard that eating your largest meal at lunch instead of dinner is recommended as your calorie demand is higher during the day than at night. What about the types of foods designed to boost your metabolism. There are several metabolic diets out there. They usually use regular ingredients and spices in a specific combination. If used properly they can turn your body into a fat burning furnace. Most of the foods are normally purchased in a grocery store. Some of the spices you may need to search for at specialty stores but it could be well worth the effort.
Another way to boost your metabolism is to change your exercise routine or start a program if you aren't in one yet. As women age they tend to loose muscle and gain fat. Your musclas will burn calories even if you are not using them. So by loosing muscle you will have to work harder to loose weight . Men burn calories faster than women because they have a greater number of and heavier fat burning muscles. Muscles burn the energy released from fat cells, when you exercise you increase the size of your muscle mass and increase the rate of your metabolism at the same time. This means that you will continue to burn calories after your workout is done. Typically a 30 minute workout 3 times per week is recommended. This will do wonders for your weight loss goals.
WORKING YOUR MUSCLES HAS 2 PAY OFFS 1 You look lean and trim 2 You burn more calories with muscles than without
Now I'm not saying you have to completely eliminate fat and do a drastic decrease of calories to get results you want. Fats do play an important and vital service to our bodies, but you can get your fat from healthy sources like nuts and oily fish. Lets face it you can't survive without calories. The standard diet on the market recommends not less than 1200 calories per day to loose weight and approximately 2000 calories per day to maintain current weight.
So why do women over 40 have trouble loosing weight. There are actually many reasons metabolism is just one of them. Hi my name is Serina. I'm married I have 4 kids.
