Over 40 years ago Weight Watchers was formed by Jean Nidetch, and since then has helped millions of people to lose weight and find a healthy lifestyle. Things have changed a bit since then, for example today it is called the Weight Watchers PointsPlus program.
Weight Watchers is a widely regarded and highly acclaimed diet. Just recently it was named "the best weight loss diet" and "the best commercial diet in the U.S."
Diet is the main concern, in this plan there is little exercise routine. Though exercise will definitely help you burn carbs, tone muscles, and lose weight it is not emphasized in this diet as much as in other diets.
Weight Watchers is unique in the way that they have set up a points program. They have assigned point value to each food depending on the nutrition value.
They take into account the protein, fiber, carbohydrates and fat content then they assign its point value. The healthier the food the lower the point value, the point of this is to keep you eating as little food as possible while still acquiring all the nutrition that is necessary for a healthy diet.
Weight Watchers was reformed to Weight Watchers PointsPlus program late 2010. This was the biggest change they had made in over 13 years.
In the beginning joining meant you would meet with a group of people weekly so they could help you and give you individual assistance with your diet. Now group meetings are still a viable option but they have added their very popular online program.
The online program is a very useful and convenient tool, and if you wish to implement this diet into your fitness/health regimen it can be of great assistance to you. The online program will give you tons of tips, workouts, recipes, point counting charts, and a lot more.
For some people the online program won't be enough. If you find that you are lacking motivation to carry out your health and fitness goals go to the meetings.
The meetings have success stories testimonials and in person examples of how the diet can work for you. Of course if you can't make it to a meeting you can always go online to the support forum; here they will give you the motivation and encouragement to help you be strong through your diet.
The best way to perform any diet is to set up your goals, and set them to a calendar and break it down into a daily activity. Writing it will help you remind yourself that it is a firm goal and should not be detoured from. Destry Masterson is an author who has written hundreds of articles.
