Water is the most plentiful element on the planet, but how many of us take it for granted? Water is one of the most nutritious and health beneficial drinks there are; just because there are no calories and no vitamins in it, does not mean it isn't providing you profits.

Water, or H2O, has awesome effects on metabolism. Metabolism is the process in which your body handles substances; this includes everything from carbs to just plain old water.

When water is in the stomach it starts breaking things apart, this provides a great assistance to the hydrochloric acid in your stomach. Water is the number one natural dissolvent: you can put about anything in water and after a while it will be disassociated into a mess of basic elements.

When drinking lots you will not only help your stomach in the digestive process but you will also be assisting your small and large intestines. After food is broken down it is sent through your intestines.

When the substance in your stomach is being thinned by water it makes it easier for your body to pull the good nutrients out and flush all the bad things as well. This, however, could result in more bathroom time.

The liver and kidney are both also greatly affected by water. What happens is, as the liquid flows through these to organs it pulls bad toxins and other build ups right out.

This may prevent a lot of terrible ailments like liver complications or even kidney stones. So be sure to get the right amount each day.

About 64 ounces or eight glasses a day is the prescribed amount for the average person, this is the equivalent to two quarts or half a gallon. In addition if you are trying to lose weight add another eight ounces for every 25 pounds of excess body mass.

For some, working out doesn't hit all the spots they are targeting no matter how hard they try. It is possible this is just old water build up.

What happens is your body stores water so it can stay hydrated in times of crisis, much like a camel in the desert. When you begin drinking a healthy amount you will start to see these built up areas begin to slim down.

Water weight can be stored around the ankles the thighs and hips and even the stomach. These are all hard to get areas with regular exercise, so try increasing your water intake.
