There are thousands of people up and down the country who will have started to work out, increasing their fitness levels and shedding a few pounds weeks ago - even months ago for some - in the run up to summer, largely so that they can feel comfortable while walking around in the hot weather, be it during their normal working week in the UK or when on holiday abroad.
If this is something that you've done, although your efforts are very likely to have paid off, especially if you've stuck to a properly planned health and fitness programme, combining both healthy eating and regular exercise, you might not be at the exact weight that you wanted to be at for the summer.
Fortunately, just because the summer is almost upon us, it doesn't mean that you have to give up, sit back and relax, as with one big fitness push over the next week or two, you should be able to increase your fitness levels further and shed even more excess weight.
First of all, you need to understand that if you carry this out over a two week period, it's going to be a strict to two weeks. While you're likely to have made a few changes to your lifestyle over the past few months if you're been exercising regularly, this two week period is going to be almost a detox and you need to prepare yourself mentally for it.
Next, it's important that you ensure you're drinking at least two litres of water throughout the day, preferably with or soon after a meal. This is one of the most basic aspects that anyone wanting to lose weight can put into practice, but one that's so often neglected.
The simple fact is if you drink the recommended daily amount of water - two litres - each and every day, you'll feel less hungry and you won't be likely to snack (and that's without considering the benefits your hair and skin will see).
In terms of food, you need to lower your carbohydrate intake, restrict carbs to just one meal a day (or at least your primary intake of carbs) and cut out absolutely anything that's bad for you, whether that's a chocolate biscuit or a yoghurt that's high in sugar.
When it comes to working out, you need to go back to basics. Putting a temporary hold on the development of muscle is advisable (some basic exercises are acceptable to ensure you remain toned) and you should focus all of your attention on cardiovascular exercises such as running, cycling or swimming.
These exercises might seem like the most straightforward, but they're the ones that are going to help you lose weight.
Just because the summer is almost here, it doesn't mean that you have to stop your health and fitness routine and by following the information provided, you can almost guarantee that you'll be able to shed a few extra pounds before you bask in the summer sun.
