Eggs are awesome; you know what they say, "A hen is only an eggs way of making another egg." Eggs can do so much, from the perfect entree
in the morning to a convenient side dish during the night.
Generally eggs are used in the morning with breakfast; it's almost as if they have a monopoly on the breakfast card. Well the reason is
because eggs are so high in iron they will kick start your day with a punch to the digestive system.
Iron is a testy chemical, it is the most abundant on earth, but there are very few forms of it that you can eat. Eggs, being the most
prevalent iron rich breakfast food, are perfect for mornings.
You can fry them, you can scramble them, and you can mince tomatoes and peppers and put feta cheese in them. You can eat them with ham or
with toast or on the side of cereal.
Eggs have about 75 calories, seven grams of high quality protein, five grams of fat, one point five grams of saturated fat and it comes
with a load of vitamins, minerals, iron and carotenoids. All of these things can be of benefit and increase your quality of life.
Now we know that eggs are wonderful and that they are good for you too, but a few years ago that was not the case. Eggs contain high
levels of cholesterol; when they found that high levels of cholesterol were closely associated with heart disease, you guessed it, eggs
became the culprit.
However, now we know that it is not high cholesterol content in foods that causes high cholesterol as much as it saturated fats, which
eggs have a very small amount of. If you want to further reduce the saturated fat content of an egg you can boil it in water after taking
out the yoke.
This is called a poached egg. You do not have to add any butter, because the water will keep the egg from dirtying the pan.
Removal of the yoke is optional, but the yoke is where you get a lot of the calories and fats; it is kind of like the heart or meat of the
egg. Egg whites are used in many diets because of the various vital vitamins and nutrients and the low fat content.
Eat eggs for breakfast, eat eggs for lunch, eat eggs for diets and eat eggs to munch. You cannot go wrong eating eggs.
Eggs are cheap too; you can get a week's worth for just a few dollars or you can get a chicken and get an egg every day of the week.
Although you should make sure to keep a healthy balanced diet; having too much of one thing is never good. Destry Masterson is a health and nutrition expert. She publishes articles for http://www.dailybread.com and recommends them for food storage.
