Black beans why do we hate them, is it because they taste different, because they may be a little less appealing on the outside, or just because we are not used to them. Well whatever the reason for your presupposed prejudice against black beans, we are here to put them to an end.
Black beans have a big B in them for B-complex vitamins. I say this because the amount of B vitamins you get in Black "B"eans is almost unreal.
B vitamins are wonderful anti-oxidants; they are water soluble so that means they are kept in your blood stream, rather than some of the other fat soluble vitamins. Anti-oxidants help to flush toxins and destroy free radicals.
The most prevalent B vitamin in black beans is the vitamin niacin. Niacin or vitamin B 3 does a great deal for our bodies and if we do not consume enough it can lead to some serious problems.
Niacin deficiency can lead to slow metabolism, which will of course cause you to gain weight but also cause you to become more susceptible to cold. Severe deficiency leads to diseases like pellagra with side effects like diarrhea, dermatitis and dementia.
We do not want any of those things to happen to us, so it is best to be on the safe side and be sure to eat your black beans. These beans are also packed with omega-3 fatty acids.
These are a fat soluble acid that play an important role in brain development and also, like the vitamin B's, it plays a vital role in the metabolism. So right now we have one bean doing double the work for your metabolism.
As well as doing work for your brain. The omegas will assist in the production of glia cells.
We all know that brain cells cannot be reproduced, that doesn't mean all is lost if you don't have a very good brain. Glia cells are created to strengthen and sharpen neurons in our brain.
So by eating your black beans you are benefiting your brains mechanics. That is good to know, so if you want smart children feed them black beans.
Inside these magic beans you also get loads of magnesium, calcium, and soluble fiber. So if we look at how those will affect our bodies we can see: the calcium is going to strengthen our bones, the magnesium will help in muscle and nerve function and the soluble fiber will give you energy and clean out your system.
All in all, the black bean is a much better for you than regular brown beans. So when eating burritos or Mexican salads or tostadas try to replace your other beans for the black ones.
