Americans go through a lot of sugar every year. And they also tend to have various health problems as a result.
Studies have been done to test the narcotic substance of sugar. It passes the tests for passing as a narcotic. A certain chemicals can reverse the effects of only narcotics and sugar was one substance that passed as being a narcotic according to that particular study.
Alcohol is a narcotic and the properties of alcohol are shared with sugar. For instance, in some studies with rats, it was found that both alcohol and sugar slow the body's response time and reduce pain temporarily.
Two groups of rats were put onto hot plates that were slowly heated up. The group of rats that had no narcotic levels in their blood stream jumped off at the expected normal reaction time.
However, the rats that were given either alcohol or sugar with their food or water, showed a slower reaction time. They tended to burn their feet a little before the heat finally registered in their pain receptors of their bodies.
The rats with the alcohol or sugar finally jumped off, but at a slower reactionary time. It was obvious from this study that the drugged rats were under the influence of a drug.
Then, to really test this hypothesis out, they got the only chemical that works for reversing only narcotic effects. They did the tests again, only this time, the rats were also given the chemical along with the alcohol or sugar.
The rats on alcohol or sugar all jumped off at the normal reaction time expected of unrigged rats. So, the conclusion was that sugar is a narcotic because that particular chemical only works for narcotics and it worked for the sugar.
Many people like to eat something with sugar in it because it gives them some quick energy and some good feelings. Then, when the effect wears off they feel lower energy than before they had the sugar and the good feelings are replaced with depression.
They become addicted as they keep turning to the sugar to help themselves feel better and not even realized what effect the sugar is having on them. Alcoholics Anonymous is a group that helps alcoholics to overcome their addictions.
Many times at these meetings, addicted people are told to have something with sugar in it when they are having an irresistible urge for alcohol. In this way, they can overcome their addiction to alcohol with something that will do the trick, but in a little safer way.
However, these same people then become addicted to sugar and gain a lot of weight. Foods that are high in sugar also tend to be high in unhealthy fats and trans fats.
So, while they have broken their addiction to alcohol, they now have a sugar addiction as well as a weight problem. You can try for yourself and start noticing how you feel before and after having something with sugar.
Do you notice that you feel better temporarily and then worse later? Is your reaction time slowed down a lot if you have a little too much sugar? Do you have brain fog? It could be the narcotics that you are eating in the form of sugar. Destry Masterson is a health and nutrition expert.
