Some of you pour a bowl of cereal with milk every single day; some of you eat pancakes and wash it down with a glass of milk. Still more, some of you pour milk into your coffee or hot cocoa.
Did you know that these are actually healthy choices? Milk is very good for you and provides more health benefits than you might be aware of.
As you all know, milk has a lot of calcium in it. Calcium builds up your bones and teeth.
Strong bones and teeth mean you will have your own teeth when you are older, and you won't have osteoporosis. Did you know that one 8 oz. cup of milk has as much calcium as 2 1/4 cups of broccoli?
Milk also contains protein. Protein is great because it is a good source of energy, and it builds and repairs muscle tissue.
Milk has as much potassium as a small banana. Potassium is good for you because it does so many different things.
It helps lower your blood pressure, assists digestion, and improves your heart health, just to name a few. How about some banana milk?
Did you know that milk also has phosphorous? This nutrient is great because it strengthens your bones and generates energy.
One glass of milk contains as much phosphorous as a cup of kidney beans! Which one would you rather have a cup of?
This exciting beverage is also a good source of Vitamin D, which aids your body with the absorption of calcium. Milk contains a hefty amount of this vitamin too; an 8 oz. glass of milk contains as much Vitamin D as 3.5 oz. of cooked salmon.
It also contains another vitamin: B12. This necessary nutrient maintains red blood cells and nerve tissue.
One more vitamin for our list here- Vitamin A. Vitamin A is an amazing and essential vitamin because it does so many different things.
Vitamin A maintains your immune system, and it improves your vision and your skin. One glass of milk contains as much Vitamin A as two baby carrots!
But wait, milk does more for you! It also contains Riboflavin, which completes your whole reason for eating in the first place.
Riboflavin converts food into energy. You can't live without that!
Lastly, milk is a good source of Niacin. This nifty nutrient is fabulous because it metabolizes sugar and fatty acids.
Milk is great. It has so many different beneficial nutrients in it and in large quantities as well.
Milk can help your body in so many different ways. Just to recap, milk builds strong bones and teeth, provides a good source of energy, repairs muscle tissue, lowers your blood pressure, assists digestion, improves your heart health, maintains red blood cells and nerve tissue, boosts the quality of your skin and vision, maintains your immune system, helps convert food into energy, and metabolizes fatty acids and sugar.
