People do not usually think about their cognitive processes associated with the food they eat. But the food we eat actually has a huge effect on our brain functions and ability.
Of course there is not a food that is going to make you understand everything; that kind of stuff you have to figure out. There are however many foods that will help your brain function faster, harder and better on your quest to understanding everything.
Sugars are a big one, if you think there is nothing good about sugars well you probably aren't very smart. And I mean it because eating the proper amount of healthy sugars (glucose) will put your memory in tip-top shape.
Glucose is metabolized by the carbohydrates and sugars we eat, and is the brains number one fuel source. Keeping that in mind should give you a little more incentive to eat something sweet.
Eating proteins will make you feel satisfied longer, but studies haven't found too many correlations of protein effects on the brain. Protein is still good to have, but as far as the brain goes it may be useless.
A good source of protein that is also a huge brain benefactor is salmon. These guys are packed with lean protein making them excellent for muscle gain or weight loss, or even both.
It is the omega-3 fatty acids in here that help they brain. Omegas play a huge role in maintaining the brains functions.
The fatty acids act something like a bunch of buttresses in our brains nervous system; they keep everything well reinforced and preserved. Eating two to three servings of fish in a week is recommended, but eating more is better.
Eating nuts and seeds things that are high in vitamin E do a tremendous amount of work for the brain. Vitamin E is like a blood thinner... well more like a blood maker.
It helps to relieve pressure from the circulatory system, which feeds all our organs and all our tissues all the nutrients they need. So if we have a better circulatory system we are going to have a better functioning brain.
Having increased blood flow to the brain will also help to quicken the synapses. Eating almonds our drinking almond milk will do a great deal to improve your brain functioning.
Coffee has been shown to give you immediate concentration benefits, but long term use have been linked to disadvantageous brain effects. So if you have a really important test I would suggest drinking a cup of coffee before taking it; however I wouldn't make coffee a daily habit.
Other ways to increase your brain functions is to get a healthy amount of aerobic exercise every day. And get a good amount of sleep at night. Destry Masterson is a health and nutrition expert. She publishes articles for http://www.foodinsurance.com and recommends them for food storage.
