Many people -especially gamers- struggle with exercising. It can be difficult sometimes!
However, if you take the time to find out all the different options available, then exercise can actually be fun. This article describes a few options that incorporate gaming into exercise.
One option is buying a handheld videogame system. You can play any game you want whilst running on your treadmill - this way you can get in your game time AND exercise!
However a low speed setting is recommended when you do this, because you may be at risk for falling. You wouldn't want that to happen!
You could break your Nintendo 3DS that you just spent a fortune on. Plus you might get hurt, and nobody wants either of these things to happen.
Another more practical form of exercise for gamers is a fun game called Dance Dance Revolution. You have to move around the entire time, showing off your excellent dancing skills at various levels of difficulty.
This combines the competitiveness of videogames with the exhilaration of exercise. There are stories of people losing over 50 lbs. from this game.
Who doesn't want that? The way the game works is it has a "dance pad" that lies on the floor.
It is a little slippery at times, so I don't recommend wearing socks while you use it. It has 9 different boxes or sections on it, and the screen shows different symbols telling you which box to step on next.
The higher the difficulty, the faster and more complicated the routines become. It is a very fun and addictive game.
A different option available (once you've mastered your dancing skills) is purchasing a Wii and getting the Wii Fit system. It is a very fun game that encourages a variety of fitness skills such as balance, stretching, breathing, jumping, hula hooping, and much more.
The way it works is that it has a "balance board" you stand on. It measures the pressure from your feet on this board and applies it to the goals of the game you are playing.
For example, on the hula hoop game it measures how much your feet move around, while the jumping game measures the absence of weight for a moment, then the weight of impact when you land back on the board.
There is also the Xbox Kinect available. There are several games available for this console.
This system operates without a controller; rather, it has a motion sensor, and YOU are the controller. It will pause the game when you move out of range from the motion sensor, making snack time a little more convenient.
You won't have to spend several minutes trying to get your old worn-out pause button to work. However, there have been some reviews of it not being completely effective with detecting the velocity of motion.
In conclusion, there are many options available for gamers to get in some time for exercise. It's all a matter of exploring the options available and finding what works best for you.
