According to the national runner survey, where eight thousand runners were surveyed, there was almost an even split between girl and guy runners. Guy runners took fifty-three percent of the survey and girls to the left over forty-seven percent.
So not too much of a difference there, probably could have guessed that there would be more guy runners than girls. Although personally I thought there would be more than a six percent difference between them.
And quite frankly I'm disappointed in us men. If we are allowing the women to stay that close to us, well... we could be doing a lot better.
That survey also showed that sixty-five percent had finished a marathon where thirty-five percent did not. And out of that sixty-five, seventeen percent had finished ten or more marathons.
That is a lot of marathon runners; let me do the math real quick... got it. That is one thousand three hundred and sixty people out of the eight thousand that ran ten or more marathons.
So there are some interesting percentile facts thanks to the national runner survey. What we can take from that is more men need to out run women.
Also when you run, there are regular points when both feet are on the ground. How to try and make sense of that, I do not know, but it is a fact, so take it or leave it.
Interestingly enough it wasn't until 776 B.C. that they held the first Olympic running event. Although people had been running for long periods of time before this, this was the first recorded contest of it.
It is quite evident that people must have had to run in order to catch food and provide for their primitive families back in the Neolithic ages. Scientists predict that some Neanderthals may have been as fast as some of our Olympic athletes.
Speaking of primitive and Neanderthals, an avid runner's feet can produce up to a pint of sweat each day. That is enough to give you a buzz, if it happened to be alcoholic...which it is not.
And on the topic of avid runners, the fastest recorded runner in history ran at about twenty-eight miles an hour. That is just about as fast a car in a school zone or a highly residential area.
Except he doesn't have to yield to anyone, he can run over whatever he wants. Although he is a very nice guy and keeps all his dangerous running limited to the track and field.
Lastly the phenomenon of "runners high" is a real thing. From the Oxford journal it is shown that the amount of opioid attachments to the prefrontal cortex and limbic systems of the brain had had greatly increased after a two hour run.
