Tomatoes are those round red things that everyone always confuses for a vegetable. I think this is a very unfair judgment on the poor fruit.
Everybody knows that all vegetables are yucky and most of them have bugs in them. Associating the tomato with that whole bunch is kind of discriminating.
The tomato is in fact a fruit, and because it is a fruit it is also very delicious. Maybe people couple them up with vegetables to give the vegetables a better reputation...
Have you ever wondered why your hamburgers taste so delicious, or why your salad makes you smile? Well the answer is the tomato, without the tantalizing fruit in your food you would be a smile-less-nob just eating for sustenance.
Although if you are a smile-less-nob by principle, don't be discouraged, these are for everybody. Thanks to the wonderful earth there is a vast abundance of produce of all kind, and nobody need go without... well nobody with a computer that is searching the internet for articles on tomatoes.
Despite being a fruit and subsequently good because of that, tomatoes also have a lot of neat nutritional benefits associated with them. For instance have you ever heard of a lycopene?
Good, well then you know already that this plays a huge role in the circulatory system and cardio system. If you have read up on lycopene like I have, then you should be aware that it will lower your cholesterol and support heart health.
Better heart health means you don't have to worry about heart attack, heart disease, blood clots and other heart/ circulatory problems... not as much anyway. To be perfectly honest, there are so many contributing factors that play a part in such ailments it's impossible to say there is a cure all for anything.
Although what I can safely promise you is that eating lycopene rich tomatoes will be a benefit to your health. That is the gospel truth, though I don't know if it is going to prevent you from having any major heart problems.
These delightful fruit won't just help your heart; they are also a great low-calorie meal. You can sit and eat a few of them without getting more than a hundred calories.
So for you women that need to get skinnier, or you guys that are overly self-conscious just make a couple of these nice meal replacement.
This will get your skinny in no time. Not only because they are low-calorie, but also because they are rich in vitamin C.
Vitamin C is known by some as a natural laxative. Laxatives are wonderfully useful for those who are trying to lose weight. Destry Masterson is a health and nutrition expert. She publishes articles for http://www.dailybread.com and recommends them for food storage.
