Sleep is important for your health; many people think that it is a waste of time and should be avoided at all costs. Reality of the situation is sleep is not a waste of time in fact it is a very good way to use your time.
Sleep does a number of things for our health: it helps to keep your heart healthy, it improves your memory, and it also helps those of us who have a little extra weight to lose it. When we sleep at night our bodies take proteins from our diet and turn them into muscle mass, depending on whether or not the muscle demands that.
Those people who exercise regularly will not be doing any good for their body if they are not getting enough sleep to support the muscles they are trying to build. So after you exercise, be sure to rest properly.
When we deprive ourselves of sleep we start to get a "foggy" sort of mind set; this describes times that it is hard for us to concentrate. When we sleep our brains organize our thoughts and compile them into memories.
Also our brains strengthen glia cells while we sleep; these play an important role in synapse as it occurs in the brain. This will improve the speed of your thinking greatly, and go figure by sleeping.
So after you study a good amount in the day, be sure to sleep properly so you can store it all in your head. This will help you in schooling and in careers as well.
The average adult needs about 7-9 hours of rest every night. Teens should get 8-9 hours, and 5-10 year olds should get 10-11 hours of sleep.
As we go to younger ages they progressively need more, where newborns at age of 1-2 months old need close to 18 hours of sleep. Too much and too little sleep can be detrimental to health.
Many people also believe that relaxation is a bad thing, this is simply not true. Relaxation helps to lower blood pressure, increases blood flow and decreases muscle tension.
As a result many people experience enhanced the immune system, clearer thinking and better problem solving skills. It has also been show that stress in the body leads to many different diseases.
Stress comes from epinephrine that lingers in the body. This comes from the adrenal gland when we need more energy to do certain things.
Adrenaline is good but too much can be bad. So use relaxation to flush your body of excess adrenaline in the body.
