Eating healthy can be hard these days, whether it be by lack of self-discipline or lack of understanding we have of the food we eat. It is a sad truth but most of those things that are advertised as healthy really aren't.
Take protein bars for example, these seemingly healthy foods are nothing more than glorified candy bars. They may have some more protein injected into them, but essentially they are just the sugary, high calorie snack that every little kid craves.
Don't be naive, when it comes to food think about what you are eating. "I'll just have salad": has become a common phrase for all eaters who really do mean well, but are just unaware of nutritional facts; the problem is when you have cheese and bacon bits added to your greens you are not really eating as healthy as you would think.
Not to mention topping the lettuce with some calorie rich dressing is an easy way to preserve your fat stores in the body. There is nothing wrong with healthy greens, in fact they are great, but it is the bad company that you should watch out for.
Be aware of what you are eating, practically everything these days is advertised as healthy in some way or another. Energy drinks have all the nutrients they contain written right on the top of the can, so you can constantly see all those great nutrients.
When the reality with these drinks is they are quite bad for you. Truth is people have actually had fatal experiences with these drinks; fatal situations however, have only happened in cases where extreme consumption of the product was in place.
But these energy drinks that are said to be good for you are actually very detrimental to health. These B vitamins you get from the drink are just about the only good thing in the whole can.
Along with that you are getting ridiculous amounts of caffeine and sugar, which everyone knows is bad in excess. The taurine, ginsing and creatine have also been shown to have negative effects on health when consumed on a regular basis.
Some people will drink juice as a way for their anti-oxidant supply for the day, which is not entirely bad; but these people are also getting a load of sugar, which can lead to weight gain and heart problems. Opt these out for real fruit smoothies, but drink the homemade kind.
The ones that you buy at stores are going to be made with a lot of sugary juices and sugary sugar as well. There are healthy ones available at certain stores, but for the most part these really aren't any better for you than a sweetened cup of grape juice.
