You are what you eat. That is exactly true... more or less.
Everything that you eat is going to be broken down and metabolized in your body. The nutrients that are extracted during this process are going to replace and replenish old tissues and fibers in your body.
You see what the mean now; the nutrients you receive from the foods you eat actually do compose your figure. People who do not get the proper amount of vitamins and minerals will have some obvious defects in their appearance, where people that get all the nutrients required will actually look healthy and fit.
That is just simple nutrition guidelines; you do not have to be a nutritionist to figure that out (although I am a nutritionist). Many people shrug nutrition off like it is of no consequence.
Well I would submit that these people are of no consequence. Ok, that may be a little harsh, but you have to understand that when you are trying to lose weight, strengthen cardio, or build muscle nutrition and diet is going to be half the battle.
Luckily there are some tricks. If you are trying to lose weight, here is what you need to do.
Take your meals and break them apart so you are eating more often. What this is going to do is keep your metabolism working its hardest all day, and it is really quite affective.
You will also want to try metabolic confusion. This is where you find the pattern food you eat, and every two weeks or so change your diet completely.
This doesn't mean ice cream one weak then fruit the next. You want to be getting your vitamins and nutrients through the food you eat, so just switch the types of fruits and vegetables you eat every few weeks.
If you are trying to build muscle, you will again want to split your meals up more throughout the day. This is to get your metabolism working as hard as possible to convert protein into muscle fiber.
When building muscle though, you are going to have to increase your caloric intake big time. This doesn't mean start eating fatty foods; it means start eating more food.
Eat lean meats like turkey or chicken, and even high fiber beef is good for you. But be sure to be exercising that food into muscle otherwise it will just turn into fat, and then you will be on a whole different diet.
Yes, metabolism is a huge part of our health and wellbeing, and sadly many people fail to recognize that. So keep that in mind and integrate this information with set physical desires and watch the booty come. Destry Masterson is a health, fitness and nutrition expert.
