Many people have been deceived into believing that if they don't eat meat, they won't get their daily needs for protein. This misconception came about because of educational materials presented to schools from the meat industries.
Men are led to believe that meat will help to build their muscles and make them strong, when in reality the more meat they eat, the fatter they become.
What is meat? Some people think it is beef only and that somehow chicken or fish is not meat. So, maybe we should just say flesh so there won't be any confusion. Then, people won't be thinking that they are a vegetarian when they eat chicken or fish.
But, meat in general usually refers to flesh anyway. Even an egg could be considered meat if you consider that it is a baby chicken.
Milk has been referred to as a liquid meat by some health experts, because milk has all of the same ingredients as meat; cholesterol, fat, protein, foreign DNA, hormones, and similar cells as beef has.
You don't need as much meat to eat as the meat industries would have you believe. You can get by perfectly fine and with less illness and disease to cutting way back to only have a sparingly amount.
The bodies of human beings match up with the herbivores as far as teeth, saliva, stomach digestive juices, digestive tract length, sweating, and the prostate gland.
You can fool yourself into thinking that you are a carnivore, but you will just be deceived and end up with health challenges.
There is a use for meat though, it is a good survival food. If you were starving in the wilderness, killing an animal and eating it would help you to have sustenance.
If you were lucky and happened to have some grain and nuts, these foods would help you to get filled up without risking yourself to catch a disease from the animal.
Studies have shown that cooking meat makes it cancer causing. So, the best thing for your health would be to eat the carcass raw.
Eating meat raw, having raw eggs, and drinking raw milk may not appeal to most people, but that would be the best way to be able to digest the proteins properly. And, you need to make sure that the animals that you do eat have been raised in a natural environment outside with the foods that they are naturally accustomed to.
The problem with much of the animal products that you buy in the stores today is that they have come from animals that have been kept inside a factory, in cages on top of each other and fed by products that are full of antibiotics, preservatives, and are a hindrance to good health.
In the name of getting enough protein, people are scrambling to get to the store so that they have meat in their fridges at all times. The problem with consuming so much meat is that people are ending up with arthritis, fybromyalgia, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, asthma, kidney stones, viruses, and bacterias.
The amount of protein humans actually need is much smaller. And, according to protein studies on humans, there is more than sufficient protein in grains, beans, fruits, and vegetables.
It's impossible to even get a protein deficiency unless you are not getting enough to eat and are starving. By eating high-fiber, wholesome, plant-based foods, you can have plenty of protein for your needs and will even have a lot better health. Destry Masterson is a health and nutrition expert.
