Bottled water some people say it is pointlessly worthless and others will pay more for their water than they do on gasoline. So what are the true benefits of bottled water?
Well first off, water is one of the most important substances on earth. I would say it is first, right after air.
Adequate water will improve energy levels, mental clarity, and even speed up your metabolism. This is basically the magic potion of health.
People have been realizing that lately, and the water diet and health craze has exploded all over the world as people seek its prescribed benefits. That being said, are some waters really better than others?
Well do you remember a few years ago when Fiji water was the cheapest bottle on the market. Now look, it is the most expensive at nearly four dollars a freaking bottle-that is a little ridiculous.
But that doesn't stop people from dishing out the cash and stocking up on their nutrient rich water. The claim is that this specific water comes from deep aquifers below boiling volcanos, which supposedly purify and enhance the nutritional value of the water.
According to a study done by BMC Public Health back in 2008, most interviewees could not identify a single health benefit that didn't also come from regular and cheap tap water. So the number one motivator for purchasing bottled water was deemed to be convenience.
It isn't so much the healthy benefits of the water, but it is more the peace of mind, accessibility and taste. For me I drink bottled water because I'm constantly on the move, which is probably a common lifestyle for many Americans.
Not even women stay home or near a faucet like the used to (and should), but most are constantly running errands or working in an office. Last time that I checked faucets weren't included in office cubicles... well at least none of the offices or cubicles I have seen.
Besides being so accessible and convenient, it comes with peace of mind. This water is guaranteed purified and clean, and if it wasn't you could probably sue some huge corporation for selling dirty water.
Ever since the 1993 incident back in Milwaukee, where 400,000 citizens were affected by cryptosporidium from a tainted water supply, there has been a common concern about the public's waters cleanliness. This pushed many people over to bottled "safe water", although the cleanliness of water in the Americas is pretty trustworthy.
But if you would rather get the "guaranteed safe" water, then you are going to want bottled water. However, the difference between which waters do what is really inconsequential; the biggest concern for me is the weight it takes from my wallet. Destry Masterson is a health and nutrition expert.
