Different people need to exercise for different reasons. Some may enjoy the challenge of pushing their body to new limits, whilst others do it more through necessity than pleasure. Whichever group that you fall into, the basic end result will be the same.
They may not appear that way at first, but both groups will have done something, albeit at different levels, that is helping them to lead a healthier lifestyle. Whether you exercise religiously for 2 hours a day 6 days a week at one of the top London gyms, or you simply do a bit twice a week at your local fitness club, you are still commendably making the effort.
Any exercise that you do will be beneficial to you but obviously the harder that you make yourself work the better the results. On the other hand, exercising does not have to be a full on, sweat till you drop, army type drill, there are other less punishing ways to improve your general health and fitness.
A brisk walk is a good way to start and there are plenty of options for you to do this, no matter how hectic your lifestyle. It could be as simple as getting off the bus home one or two stops early, and walking the last part of your journey.
If you work in a busy office, you could go for a walk during your lunch break and grab something to eat while you are out, as long as it is something healthy obviously. A 15 minute walk, a salad sandwich and a bottle of water will be a lot better for you than half an hour spent sitting at your desk with something that you have had delivered from your local fast food eatery.
Another option would be cycling, why not make the effort and cycle to work once or twice a week you never know, you may even enjoy it and do it every day. Basically what you are trying to do is give your body a gentle, but assertive kick in the pants to get it up and running so to speak. If you think about it, your body uses the food that you eat for energy, and it stores any excess energy as fat. This obviously means that if you eat more food in a day than your body needs to run normally and you don't use this excess energy, you will unfortunately put weight on.
Once you understand this, you will realise that you will only begin to lose weight when your body uses up these excess stores of fat. It is really just a matter of getting the right balance; you simply need to either increase your activity levels, or reduce the amount of food that you eat.
If you wanted to, you could always set yourself a realistic target, and when you reach it, then reward yourself by spending some time at one of the top London gyms as a treat. It will also act as an extra incentive and give you the motivation that you deserve to complete your fitness journey.
