For some people the hardest thing about going to the gym on a regular basis is to stay motivated. When you are exercising, even if you are totally committed, the routine that you are following can become a little bit boring. This usually has a detrimental effect on your whole attitude to exercise and it is at this point that some people struggle.
There are ways of combating this, and some are just plain common sense, you just have to stop and take a fresh look at what you are doing and the way that you are doing it. Do you for instance go through the same exercise routine at every session, if you do then why not simply try changing order that you do it in. A change is as good as a rest, or so they say.
The fact that you need motivation can sometimes be a sign that you need to take your exercises up a gear to a new level. If could simply be your bodies way of telling you that it is now comfortable with the amount of exercise that you are doing, and needs to be pushed that little bit further. When you start to increase the rate of exercise that you do, you are again pushing your body to new limits.
A good way to get back your motivation is to try to find someone, like a family member or a friend, who is around your build and weight to exercise with you. This will not only have the desired positive motivational effect that you want, but it will also bring out your natural competitive instinct and you will find that you will try harder, especially if it is a sibling.
If you can't get anyone to exercise with you, then why not listen to your favourite music while you pound away on the treadmill. Most people nowadays will have access to some sort of music player or other whether on their mobile phones or by an mp3 player. When you listen to your music, the length of time spent on your exercises will seem to fly by.
Another winner is, when you are exercising; try to give yourself realistically attainable targets so that when you reach one of them you can give yourself a little reward. This may just be something simple like a cd, but you can increase the value the more targets that you reach.
This way when you hit a major target you can give yourself a big reward for all of the hard work that you will have done. If for example you exercise in a gym in Manchester, your big reward could be a trip to watch one of the two premier league football teams play, or a shopping trip to the Trafford centre the choice is yours.
The main thing to remember is that exercising, whether in a gym in Manchester or anywhere else should be enjoyable, and never feel like a chore. If it starts to get that way then all that you have to do is employ one or even all of these tips, and you should be back in the zone in no time at all.
