Ronald Reagon once said, "It's not who you are that determines what you do, but what you do that determines what you are". He may not have realized when he said it that it very much applies to you in a physical sense.
It, however, very much does apply to you in a physical sense. If you want to be that person that is fit and healthy, you will only become that way by what it is you do.
No body builder ever got buff by sitting around watching political television. Those body builders probably watch politics while they are doing dead lifts in the gym.
It has been shown that there is a direct correlation between health and activity. Those people who do not do any sort of activities will find that they, themselves, are becoming grossly disfigured.
All you need to do is spend an hour a day walking, or doing something physical, and you can lose up to 30 pounds in a year. That is no joke; just an hour of activity each day can burn more than 360 calories.
Being skinny isn't the only thing people want; some people want to be bigger. Another great quote from our friend Ronald, "Every great change starts at the dinner table".
I know that is taken out of context, truth is I have never heard the speech, but it is still a profound and very truthful quote. Diet is going to be a huge part in changing your health status.
You are what you eat, even though Ronald Reagan didn't say it, it is still true. Your body is made from the nutrients it takes from food.
So if you are trying to build muscle and you are eating green salads all day, well you might as well strap on a tutu and start prancing about in Tchaikovsky nut cracker, because you are not going to gain any muscle by eating lettuce. If you want to build some real muscle you have to get some real protein.
Beef will do, or fish, or even peanuts and lentils, but stick with the beef and fish, it will work much faster than beans and nuts even though your health will eventually suffer. However, if you are trying to lose weight, keep the muscle you have and slowly build new muscles, as well as preserve your optimum health, then eating the health building legumes, nuts, potatoes, and lentils is an excellent idea.
I imagine that if Mister Ronald Reagan wasn't the president he would have been a physical trainer. He has all the qualities; and he is motivating, friendly, and has great one liners.
So if you want to shape up, you had better start owning up. Start acting instead of just waiting.
The biggest part is that you act. Without action your body will grow sluggish and will begin to leave a slimy trail everywhere you go, so try and avoid that.
