Although most overweight people will like to lose some excess fat, the idea of losing weight can repel many of them. When people talk about losing weight, the imageries that crop up in their head will most of the time be that of a tough agonizing exercise program and a hunger pang starvation diet.
Losing weight need not mean that you have to forgo your favorite foods and go on a fad diet. All you need to do is to eat fewer calories than what your body uses up for your daily activities and bingo, the pounds will drop over a time period. If you compliment this eating habit with some form of fun rigorous physical activities such as dancing, your weight will come off even faster. To add icing to the cake, you will improve your physical fitness as well as getting a sexy well toned body.
Look at all the professional dancers. Aren't they all in great physical condition and in excellent shape? So if you dread going to the gym and getting bored, then go to dance classes or dance clubs with your friends and dance away.
One thing you need to remember is that though you may be having fun dancing the night away with your friends or your love one, the objective is to lose weight. So the more rigorous your dancing style is, the more calories you will burn. Therefore choose to dance with pulsating and energizing music. The idea is to keep your heart rate up and that you will be panting for breath. This will thus create the aerobic effect for you to burn your fat away and improve your cardiovascular health.
Better yet, choose dance styles that need you to have a dance partner and that swinging, twirling or even carrying each other are part of the dance movements such as in Salsa dancing or Lindy Hop. These types of dance styles have some strength training effect and thus your body will look very well toned when you have lost some weight. Furthermore, if your dancing partner is the love of your life, this will create even more bonding for your relationship.
So take up dancing lessons if you don't know how to dance these styles. If you do not have a dancing partner, you will be able to pair up with others in your dancing class. Who knows, you may even find your lifelong partner there.
As for the guys, hip hop and break dancing are excellent dance styles to lose weight and get a great body. Look at all the hip hop dancers and break dancers, most of them have muscularly lean bodies and six pack abs to show off, don't they? So why can't that be you?
If you are already a gym member, see if your gym conducts dance classes as many fitness clubs nowadays do as part of the aerobics training program. Many gyms these days conduct popular dance styles such as jazz, belly dancing and even pole dancing if you are the more adventurous type. Hey, pole dancing need not be in the exclusive domain of the ladies, guys too can take up pole dancing.
Losing weight need not be drudgery. All you need to do is just to eat a little less than you normally do and then indulge in some fun but rigorous activities to burn off your fat such as learning how to dance.
