Weight Training Beat The Plateau

If you are an adamant weight trainee you may be familiar with sticking points. You may wonder what the heck you are supposed to do when these plateaus pop up.

Well there are a few tricks that you can try that will get your muscle building back on track. First thing to do is change the exercises you are doing.

So if you are working your pectorals and the bench press hasn't done squat for a month, what do you do? Well instead of doing the bench press, try doing some dumbbell presses.

Just switching the exercise a little will affect development a lot. Even more so, if you go to something like dumbbell flys you may even increase development faster.

You could also try the butterfly machine, or the press machine. Even something as little as changing your hand position will stimulate growth and create results.

I would recommend going to machines and dumbbells for a month, to get a break from regular routine. After you have stayed away from the norm for a little while, your body will be off of the plateau or out of the sticking point and ready to build again.

This is called muscle confusion; it is how all the major body builders get so ripped. The best way to get good muscle development is to work routines for a month at a time.

Find a really effective routine that works for you, work it for a month and then move to a new one. This is the best way to stay ahead of the curve and prevent muscle sticking points.

There are other ways to get your muscles pumping and out of the funk. For example, Tabata aerobics will work synergistically with muscle development.

Here is what you do, on rest days when you are not lifting weights, run in sprints. Find a track that is around 200 meters long, and just run it as fast and as hard as you can.

This is going to blast your cardio to a whole new level. When your blood starts pumping like that to the muscles you have recently worked, you are going to start building new muscle fiber, thus creating more muscle mass.

This is a routine that personal trainers have famous actors and actresses do when they need to get cut up. If you work tabata routines twice a week in between your weight lifting, and you switch up your routine every two months or so, you won't ever have to worry about sticking points again.

This is the way to constant muscle development. Just be sure to get the proper amount of protein and rest with your exercises, and you will be in good shape.
