One of the most common misconceptions about exercising, healthy living and dieting is that it has to be expensive.
You look at gyms and there's a membership to pay, a fee that can be anywhere from 20 pounds a month to 500 pounds a month.
Head to a supermarket and it seems as though there's a premium put on foods that are healthy and the same applies to food and drink that's been created to help with weight loss programmes.
While there isn't a great deal that can be done about the price of certain foods in the supermarket, there is a lot that can be done about the cost of exercising and these three points prove that as long as you're will to take the time to do your research, exercising doesn't have to be expensive.
1. Take up walking - the simple exercise that we all learn to do from a young age, walking is very often overlooked as a great way to exercise because it doesn't usually leave you sweating, red faced and out of breath. However, walking is in fact one of the best cardiovascular exercises that anyone can carry out and the most important aspect to understand here is that can be absolutely free. You don't need any specialist clothing or equipment (although a good quality, comfortable pair of trainers is advised) and you can literally open your door and walk for as long as you want before turning around and walking right the way home again - all at no cost to yourself.
2. A gym membership doesn't have to cost the earth - many people instantly think that a gym membership has to cost them a small fortune, but the truth is that if you are willing to spend some time looking around for the best deals, a gym membership can be picked up at a particularly cheap cost - sometimes at no cost at all. Take free gym memberships as an example. Most gyms offer them and although you aren't likely to be able to get one for the full year, many gyms hand them out for day, weekend and even month trials.
3. Look at your individual needs - far too many people think that when it comes to exercising, they need to be spending massive amounts of money investing in the right clothing and equipment before they can even start to work out.
You can save yourself often vast sums of money if you simply sit down, figure out what it is that you want to achieve from exercising, look at what you need and shop around to ensure that you get the best prices possible.
No one would argue with you if you said that getting fit and healthy will often see you have to spend some money to start with and a little extra money each month. However, it doesn't have to be as much as most people first think and as long as you're a savvy thinker and shopper, you should be able to prove to yourself that exercising doesn't have to be expensive.
