Even as you read this message you can be working out. Quick, right now flex your abdomen.
Don't stop reading and I will tell you when to stop flexing; let's hope you can read fast. Exercise, according to dictionary.com: bodily or mental exertion, especially for the sake of training or improvement of health.
All it takes is a little exertion and you can be on your way to exercising. But becoming fit and exercising are two different things.
Fitness is a lifestyle and it requires a lot of exercising. Easy workouts can be done at any time, kind of like how you should still be flexing your abdomen.
Flexing is just forcing a contraction of muscles; basically it is just using your muscle against itself. Flexing isn't very effective as an independent workout, but it can be incorporated into any part of your day for a little extra tightening of those muscles.
Even just by flexing we burn calories, by doing silly things like laughing we burn calories too. In fact, just about everything is going to burn some amount of calories.
Simple every day actions can be performed a little differently just to get a bit more of a burn in your everyday routine. For example, when you are getting milk from the grocery store, try doing it without using a cart.
Yes this will require you to hold the milk from the moment you pick it up all the way to the point of purchasing, and then out to your car or home if you walked to the store. Simple things can be done to cause some form of exertion.
Basically all you have to do for exercise is repeat the same action over and over, and eventually you will start to see some affects. However, some different routines are going to be much more effective than others.
If you want to get fit you have to start trying to be fit. This means next time someone tells you to eat a stick of butter, you say no.
Or next time someone tells you not to go to the gym and workout, you say no. Remember you just have to say, no to not fitness.
If you can find some supportive friends to say no with you, try to associate with these people. They will be an excellent support and example.
Fitness is easy; all you have to do is be serious about it. Just take it one day at a time and give up your old habits of not fitness.
Oh by the way, you can stop flexing now, but it would be better for your fitness if you just flexed that abdomen of yours for the rest of your life. Who knows, maybe it will get stuck that way.
