Balance Ball Core Exercises

Studies have shown that exercising your abdomen on the balance ball activate twice the core muscles that traditional crunches and squats do. So is it worth it to invest in a balance ball?

Well let's see, X (amount of dollars) = A (twice the abdominal workout) x T (same allotted time)... figure the decimal and carry the remainder. Answer is yes, it is worth it.

No matter how much the cost you are still getting twice the abdominal workout per session, but fortunately these are inexpensive and easy to get. Once you have your ball try these exercises.

The balance ball pushup, this exercise is going to work the pectorals and the triceps, along with minor tension in the trapezius and deltoids. To do this place your shins on the balance ball with your hands against the ground.

Right now you should resemble a table with two legs against the ground and ball underneath the opposite end. I mean to say, you should be stiff as a board.

Now proceed to doing the pushup motion. At first you may find that keeping balance is difficult.

That is good, the harder the workout the greater the gain, that is what I always say. The whole time you do this exercise you should keep your body stiff as a table.

Then next exercise to try is bridge hamstring. Lay on your back with your calf muscles on the ball.

Now as you roll your legs down so that your feet are on the ball rather than your calfs, lift your buttocks into the air. Press your navel as high into the air as you possibly can.

This workout may sound like it is ineffective and only for women, but it is actually a real muscle crusher. You do this a few times and you will notice your bottom and your abdomen are both crying for help.

The next exercise to be done is the knee tuck. This is another simple sound exercise, but it requires a good amount of balance and flexibility.

Start out in pushup position but instead of bending your arms and lowering your body down toward the ground, curl your legs inward toward your chest, raising your buttocks into the air and stretching your back and upper thigh muscles. This is a good exercise for your back, abdomen and buttocks.

Using the balance ball is going to create stability in your core. This is going give you better balance and better stability.

If you are a dancer and need the core muscle strength, than investing in a balance ball might do you a world of good. Not to mention these make exercising fun and easy, get one for your beloved spouse and you guys can exercise together.
