The obliques and abdomen are some of the hardest parts of the body to exercise. What you have to do is get creative if you want to see some results.
There are tons of ways you can exercise your belly area, you don't have to be limited to the tedium of repetitive crunches and sit ups. All of these exercises can be done with nothing more than your own body, except one.
Will start with that one, it is the broom twist. Sit on the ground with your legs spread apart like you are five years old.
Hold a stick or long exercise rod against the nape of your neck with the palms of your hands. Now rotate back and forth, if you are doing this correctly you should begin to feel a burn in your obliques.
This is to be expected, though a lot of people will not feel this because this exercise is relatively mild. So for those of you, who already have a little bit of core strength, let's move on.
The next routine is the side jackknife it sounds as hard as it is. Assume a sideways lying position with your hand behind your head and your leg raised into the air.
Bend your body inward bringing your elbow to meet with your raised legs knee. This is going to be strenuous on your obliques so five reps is good for each side, but if you can do ten go for it.
The next routine is the criss-cross crunch. Sit in a regular crunch position, but lift one of your feet to rest on the opposite legs knee.
This should look like a casual sitting position, but on your back rather than your bottom. Now start doing crunches, trying to get your elbow to touch the opposite legs knee.
This is a really great way to burn the grease of that belly. This exercise is going to create some quite apparent strains on your abdomen.
Once you have found a few of the exercises you are willing to use, make a routine and follow it daily. That is how we progress, is through rigorous practice.
Set up your routines in order, from hardest to easiest. Now determine the amount of reps you are going to do for each exercise.
By doing this, you are also committing to exercise daily. Write it on your calendar, or set an alarm or make a note in your phone reminding you to do your exercises.
The main thing is to stay motivated; besides staying motivated, eat the proper foods and get a good amount of rest. If you do all these things, I can guarantee that you will see some amazing results faster than you even expected.
