There are a few things you need to know when it comes to building muscles. First is diet.
If you do not increase your caloric intake then you are not going to be able to build any muscle. Here is the facts, you need calories to feed muscles, otherwise your body starts to break them apart as if they are fat.
For every one pound of muscle that you want to gain you are going to have to start eating 50 additional calories. And that is just for your basal metabolic rate (the amount of calories your body consumes at rest).
When you are actually performing the workouts you are going to have to be eating at least three hundred more calories each day. Preferably these will be all protein too, that means eggs, beef, lentils, and well protein shakes (obviously).
Getting protein is just as important as getting the right amount of calories. Protein is responsible for actually building muscle; this is the stuff that is going to be synthesized at a cellular level and turned into muscle fiber.
So if you are looking gain muscle and you are eating salads all day, well you can forget about it. This is not going to work, if you want muscle you have to be a carnivore, or invest in some whey protein.
Next you are going to have to start exercising. Eating isn't going to do it on its own. It takes both diet and exercise to build muscle properly.
Exercising in a gym with weights is going to make a big difference for actually creating muscle mass. When you are doing regular body weight exercises you are distributing the tension throughout your entire body; this is great if you want to be lean, mean and have a strong core, but for those of us that want to actually build some real mass we will need weights.
This is called muscle isolation; this targets specific muscles and allows you to but all your energy into one muscle at a time, thus effectively tearing your muscles deep. The more you can rip your muscle in an exercise the more mass you will build.
The next trick to learn is lactic acid training; this is going to be one of the most helpful tools in your arsenal. Lactic acid training works by utilizing the chemical reactions of lactic acid in the muscles.
When there is a lot of lactic build up, your body secretes mass amounts of growth hormone. This stuff is going to be a powerful fat burner but more than that a powerful muscle builder.
These are the tricks to building muscle use them wisely. One last thing before you start doing lactic acid training every day, you should know that done in excess you are going to destroy your muscles; about once every two to three weeks.
