Avoiding Illness During The Fall And Winter Months

It's important to really take care of yourself during the cold weather season. This is a time for greater incidences of cold and flu.

There are many things you can do to have a strong immune system. One of these is to make sure that you get enough sunshine during the warm season.

You need plenty of vitamin D. Many studies have shown that this vitamin is imperative for strong bones and for a a strong immune system.

Ideally, you would need ten minutes a day for your whole body. But, just getting plenty by being outdoors swimming and hiking will help a lot.

Your body stores a good amount in your body to last for months. It's when most people's supply of vitamin D gets lowest that they are most vulnerable to illness.

It's good to get it checked with the doctor and to take some supplements if needed. Contrary to popular thinking, you do need sunshine on your skin, it's the sunscreens that can cause cancer.

Another thing that you need to do is to make sure that you get plenty of rest, stay strong with a good attitude, and have a good supportive social network of close friends and family.

It is important for you immune system to have time to regenerate with proper rest. Studies have shown that good feelings boost your immune system's fighting ability, and bad feelings depress your ability to fight of bacteria and viruses that may be going around.

Try to be with positive people that you can care about and that care about you. Maybe, you should find a way to volunteer to help others or join a church that is heavily involved in service, such as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as the Mormons.

Another thing that you can do for yourself is to not get so busy that you become overly stressed and overwhelmed. These are times that you can make yourself vulnerable.

If you do get sick, take some time to think back on anything that you may have done foolishly that made you weak. It could be that you weren't getting proper sleep, or something tragic happened in your daily life.

Find some ways to deal with stress, get the sufficient amount of sleep, and enjoy associations with people you like. And, make sure that you eat some grains, beans, fruits, and vegetables.

Many plant foods have special nutrients that can really fight bacteria and parasites. Some helpful choices are onions, garlic, ginger, pomegranates, limes, and cabbage, to name a few.

Food and Diet is another big thing for being healthier. Stay away from the sugar that depresses the immune system and the animal products that are full of millions of pathogens, bacteria, and viruses.
