Losing weight is a major challenge for a lot of people; either because they cannot force themselves to start exerting some extra energy each day, or because they cannot retain themselves from eating all the food they desire. So what are you doing to do if you can't be disciplined, but would still very much like to lose weight?
Well even though self-discipline is a very useful trait to have, especially when trying to lose weight or gain muscle, it is not completely necessary. Well not a lot anyway.
You won't have to learn to sit underneath a freezing water fall for an hour's meditation or anything like that. However you will have to make some changes.
Don't expect to change your physical appearance without making some habit and lifestyle changes to go along with it. Let's talk about diet.
You like to eat meat, and bread, and well you like to eat. Okay that is fine, here is what you are going to have to start doing.
Start making a menu that you can follow. Make a list of all the foods you like to eat, and then just replace them with healthier recipes.
Let's say you like French toast-I do too-well, instead of getting white bread, a bucket of butter, and a mound of syrup, try getting some healthy whole wheat, cut the butter, and put a small amount of jam on or peanut butter. When you replace the white bread with wheat you are going to get the same belly full of food, with have the fat and twice the energy.
Cutting the syrup and butter, well that is an obvious must do, if you are looking to drop weight. all in all, I would say that a whole wheat, French toast breakfast is going to be pretty dang good.
The second trick to dieting, begin eating in small portions six times a day. For dinner, do not eat any carbs; try getting a slow digesting protein like cottage cheese and some veggies.
Dieting however may not be enough. For some it is going to be necessary to incorporate some exercise into daily life.
Recent studies have shown that traditional jogging isn't the best way to lose weight. In fact it is almost five times more effective to go sprinting.
This is called HIIT (high intensity interval training) when you work your heart rate at maximum you build more cardio strength, than working for a longer period of time at say 70 percent (fast jogging pace). Not only does your heart get much stronger, but you are also doing a lot more damage to your muscles.
This is going to require calorie burn for a much longer period of time while your body works to repair itself. When jogging you have to run for twenty minutes before you start burning calories, but with HIIT you can work for 15 minutes and burn calories for up to 48 hours.
