You like working out huh? But the squats aren't helping with your dunks?
Well if you knew what you were doing than you probably wouldn't be doing weight training to learn to jump higher. What you have to do is plyometric exercises.
Weight lifting is good for one thing, that is creating spectacular looking muscles. Having huge thigh muscles is kind of silly-to me any way.
I don't see the point in having huge thighs that bulge out of your jeans when you're just walking through the strip mall. I could see maybe wanting huge pectorals and big biceps, because those muscles actually look cool.
But big legs, that is something I never really understood. The thing is they are good for nothing.
When you have some 80 pound thighs it isn't like you can jump extremely high or run really fast or anything, in fact it usually means exactly the opposite. When you have muscles that are pointless it is just kind of moronic, unless they are pointless pectorals or biceps, those being the only two exceptions.
Wait no; abdomen is a good one to have look strong. Actually I just decided anything from the waist up, yeah that is rad to have it looking tuff, but legs... nah.
When it comes to women trying to beef up, well that just makes me feel uncomfortable. I would hate to have a girlfriend that shaves her face with my razor, and then spits blood after beating up my bullies.
Doesn't appeal to me, but everyone is different. You know maybe that is right for you or something.
If you want functional muscles that are actually useful to have, then you need to practice plyometric exercises on your legs. This is going to be routines like the squat jump, and the jump crunch.
When you do plyometric routines you are aiming to perform as fast as you can. These take a lot of energy and exertion, but they are the best way to build raw explosive power.
This is how professional athletes become so great. They incorporate these routines with their strength training and their cardio exercises.
The best way to have real power and strong muscles is through diversity of exercise. Do weights one day then yoga the next.
