When I was about 6 years old I had my first really bad asthma attack, you know the kind where you go into the bathroom after a fit of coughing that leads to a harsh period vomiting. I was in the bathroom just letting the whole place steam, because that is what my nurse of a mother told me to do at the time, and it actually did help quite a bit.
Steam really oxygenates the blood, and relaxes the lungs. So if you have a bad asthma attack it is good to be very helpful for you to find a bathroom, turn on hot water, and just let yourself steam for a minute.
After the initial attack I was discouraged to think that my whole life would be spent coughing my lungs out of my face. But then I learned the trick.
It is relatively simple, but it takes some time and patience. The first thing you are going to want to do is, cut back on your inhaler; do not use it unless you absolutely need to.
Cut back more and more, until you can get through a moderately simple day without having to use your inhaler. Now you will start adding more physical exertion to do your daily routine, the trick to beating asthma is by strengthening your lungs.
When you are constantly sucking sweet oxygen through an inhaler, you are just keeping your lungs from working as hard as they can. This is just a momentary cover up to the real problem of having weak lungs.
Take up jogging, but please start slow, I would hate to be responsible for any fatal asthma attacks because I told somebody to toughen up. The thing is start doing some form of cardio, just start slow.
Now I have come across a new way of exercise that is going to start strengthening your lungs better than any other cardio routine. It is the rebounder.
