Pizza is easily the most popular choice among most Americans. It is fast, convenient, and delicious.
Most public schools are even serving pizza regularly on Friday. Is this just a scheme to get truant kids to come back to school, or is the government trying to condition our children to like pizza?
I prefer the later of the two choices, just because it is more interesting to think about. Truth is, there is probably no thought behind why they serve pizza on Friday other than kids like pizza.
And it isn't just kids that like pizza it is every one. I personally haven't met a single person who says they don't like pizza.
That's I probably because it comes in every way possible: there is the meat lover's, there is the cheese lover's, and there is even vegetarian lover's pizzas. The only person who doesn't get a pizza is the vegan, but really who is considering their vote.
The best part of pizza, it comes straight to your door. You don't even have to get dressed or out of bed to feed yourself.
All you have to do is call up delivery, order your pizza, wait 15 to 30 minutes, and then have your children perform the transaction. I personally like to instruct my 10 year old to pay the delivery man with a 20 when the order costs around 25.
Don't worry I tell my kid to tip him too... but I don't give anything to tip with, so I don't think little bobby even knows what a tipping means yet. Yes pizza is a beautiful food.
But what are the repercussions of eating it every day, and what are the consequences of our obsession. Well, the vegan would tell you, "You aren't supposed to eat cheese".
But again, why would anyone listen to a vegan? In your average slice of pepperoni pizza you get just barely less than 300 calories.
So eating two of these for a meal, is only going to give you 600 calories, that's not bad. However, who just eats one or two slices?
The answer is nobody. I go through a box by myself, but I get the meat lover's so I get close to 3000 calories from one pizza.
That explains my waist line and my lethargic desire to stay in bed and order more pizza. However, I do get a good source of protein.
With one of my meat lover's pizzas, I get close to 100 grams of protein. That is the equivalent to two whey protein shakes, if you use two scoops of protein powder.
So if I was exercising with my pizza consumption I would easily have enough protein to turn into muscle. And the excessive amount of carbs provides a great deal of lasting energy, which is also easily stored as reserve body fat. Destry Masterson is a health and nutrition expert.
