There are many new fads coming out these days: Truth about Six Pack Abs, Abs for Dummies and whatever else people are buying. Stop paying money for these products; they are effective yes, but if you follow the guidelines I will outline in this article you will see the same effects.
First off if you want a six pack you are going to have to have low body fat. Most the time people think that you get a sexy, flat abdomen by doing crunches.
This is simply not the case. Having a six pack and having a flat stomach are two entirely separate things.
The abdomen was considered the sexiest portion of man's body, according to women. However, if a man had a pop-belly along with a six pack, women said that it was significantly less attractive.
To get a flat stomach you will need to stop doing crunches. I am serious; these are only building the veneer abdominal muscles that are going to push your belly outward.
What you will want to do is, exercise everything else. Of course toning your abs through exercise like crunches is going to be a great way to burn calories, but you should work until you feel the burn of muscle tearing.
You are not trying to develop muscle mass in this area of your body. What you want to do is drop body fat.
Dropping body fat is especially hard once you hit the age thirty, because by that time your physiological make up has changed. You are no longer trying to develop and grow, but rather maintain what you have.
That is why starving yourself won't help to lose weight like it did when you were younger. Eating smaller meals more often throughout the day, however, will keep your stomach from over stretching and developing a pop belly.
To lose fat around your abdomen you need to do calorie burning exercises. Things like sprints and pushups are great for fat burn.
These two exercises in particular are going to activate a very large portion of muscles, thus creating more caloric burn. Because everyone knows you burn calories by activating muscles.
Also drink water periodically throughout the day, this is going to help flush out your digestive system, thus causing you to excrete any unabsorbed calories before you store them as fat. Also try to avoid things like monounsaturated fats, these cause fat gain.
However, peanuts (which are high in monounsaturated fat) have been shown to increase testosterone and this will help you to burn fat. So keep that in mind, in case you absolutely need some of that bad fat, get the kind that's good.
Men need testosterone to burn weight; things like the Atkin diet is going to shock our system and stop us from producing testosterone, thus preventing fat loss. So it is good to keep getting a healthy amount of good carbohydrates as well. Destry Masterson is an author who has written hundreds of articles.
