Diet and exercise programs all have their own little tricks to losing weight and getting in shape. For example, P90x this program is "guaranteed" to get you in the best shape of your life.
How can they promise that? Quite simply really, if you are to spend 90 minutes a day working out within 3 months I bet you will probably be in the best shape of your life.
The thing about this exercise that really sells it is the muscle confusion. If you are lifting 15 pounds in one arm curl (yes, I am a weakling) your muscle will eventually become accustomed to it and stop increasing in size and mass.
This is easily countered by lifting more weights. Muscle confusion isn't as complicated as people make it seem.
You do not have to have some backward scheme to grow muscles. Just lift 5 more pounds that will confuse your muscles enough.
Another trendy promise that is going around is that water will make you drop tons of weight. They say drinking cold water will especially help your body burn fat by increasing the metabolism.
It will, but not like you would think. If you drink 8 cups of ice cold water you have burned as much as 64 calories.
That is the equivalent to one single banana... my bad I meant one half of a banana. Though to be perfectly fair that is going to equate to almost four pounds of weight lose throughout the year.
Don't get me wrong, water is essential for life. If you live in a dry climate you can only life for as long as three days without it.
However, drinking water isn't going to make you lose immense pounds of fat instantly, and it is definitely not going to turn you into Kiera Knightley. Continue drinking water any way just because it will keep you alive.
Losing weight is a big deal for people and if drinking water doesn't do the trick what will? Well it is actually quite complicated, here is what you need to do.
To find out if you are fat, take your BMI, by measuring your height and your weight and mashing them together. This will tell you if you are fat.
This is an ancient trick that has been being used for over a hundred years. The problem with this is, if you are short with no muscle at out you may not be considered fat, and if you have lots of muscle you may be in the obese range.
So it is best to disregard the stupid BMI test because it is basically a load of crap. Destry Masterson is a health, fitness and nutrition expert. She has written articles about exercise and recommends http://www.proform.com for information about exercise equipment.
