Exercising is great for your cholesterol, cardio, lymphatic system, stress, and pretty much anything that has to do with health. It does everything.
But the exercise that beats exercises is the core exercises. The great thing about these is you don't even need a gym membership or any fancy equipment.
Of course both those things will help, but if you do not have the money for them you will manage just the same. Core exercises are going to strengthen your core... go figure.
Every move you make is going to require some muscle activity and this is going to start in the core. Your limps are only as powerful as your torso.
I don't think people realize that as much as they should. I see men at the gym trying to bulk their arms, when they have a little body that can't support their biceps.
These guys are going to get tired out, before they can get any development in those muscles. Arnold Schwarzenegger said one of the six fundamental rules of muscle training is core training.
Simply because he knew that you cannot have strong limbs without a strong core. He is a smart guy, I mean he is a governor now.
The really great thing is these exercises also work your stabilizer muscles. Ever been doing an exercise and you suddenly start to spasm, this can be uncomfortably embarrassing if you are in front of someone you are trying to impress.
Stabilizer muscles prevent that kind of thing from happening. Yoga and Pilates are great forms of core exercise.
You see those yogis who can stand on one leg while they lift the other behind their head. That requires a great deal of strength and balance, both of which you will receive from core workouts.
Balance is going to help you with anything you do, whether it be walking, picking up groceries or even just regular household chores. But balance isn't just for women, men can benefit from balance exercises too.
Look at the Olympic athletes. These guys have to have incredible balance otherwise they would likely hurt themselves while trying to perform those incredible, mind bending stunts.
An easy exercise to start with is the bridge. This is going to work your core, of course, but it will also work your triceps and deltoids and upper body too.
Put your feet and hands flat on the floor with your back toward the ground. Lift your stomach, activating your core muscles, into the air.
Go from your bottom on the floor to your pelvis in the air, and try to get your crotch to touch the ceiling. This is a wonderful work out for people of all ages.
Then there is also the banana workout. Lie on your back, hold your hand straight up, biceps by your ears, and point your toes.
Lift your legs and your shoulders of the ground. You should feel a definite burn with this one. Destry Masterson is an author who has written hundreds of articles. She publishes articles for http://www.nordictrack.com and recommends them for treadmills.
