It seems like everyone is worried about their weight. Most of the people in America are overweight, so they are either worried about losing weight or staying trim.
In all of your weight loss efforts, counting calories is probably a big deal. And, you might think that simply exercising and eating less than the amount you need daily will do the trick in weight loss.
But, there are some similarities and differences in calories. Proteins from animal sources will give you four calories a gram or teaspoon.
Carbohydrates will give you four calories a gram also. However, fat will give you nine calories of trick or treat calories.
The trick with the fat calories is that they don't really get used, they get stored in the body, leaving you hungry for carbohydrates, your true body fuel.
The more fat you eat, the more pounds you pack on. And, the only way to use them or get rid of them is to exercise.
During exercise, your body uses all the carbohydrates that are stored in your muscles and then it uses the fat. Fat calories are hard to get rid of, but there is another way to get rid of them and that is with fiber.
Fiber carries the fat out of your body. If you eat wholesome carbohydrates with plenty of fiber, you will have a much easier time staying at your ideal weight.
Many people like to go on high-protein diets. They are weird, bad for your health and not as effective towards permanent weight loss.
For one thing, they tend to contain a lot of fat that you don't need. And the protein is concentrated and stresses your kidneys, liver, and heart.
What about consuming something with zero calories? That would be water and fiber, they both have zero calories.
Drinking water before a meal contributes to a feeling of fulness with less eaten at that meal. The fiber also contributes to a feeling of fulness.
By eating high-fiber, wholesome carbohydrates, you can get filled up on whole foods like carrots, popcorn, celery, and apples that have plenty of fiber and a few calories.
You get really filled up. But, what about protein you may ask? Yes protein is important and here's a little secret you should remember.
All plant foods have protein, all you have to do is get enough to eat everyday and you will have plenty of protein. That works if you eat wholesome and not refined carbohydrates.
