You need to set a practical and achievable goal to get six pack abs. Unrealistic goals can be never achieved. Getting a six pack is also a process and it requires effort and time. It depends on your body type. If you are lean then, you can get six-pack in lesser time than one who is overweight.
Working out regularly is very important. If you are very busy person, then you can join a gym. This way exercising will become a part of your daily routine. Apart from that getting personal training from fitness professional will also ensure that you are on right track.
You should focus on strengthening your core abdominal muscles and losing fat. Exercises like crunches, sit-ups, cardio workouts, lifting weights, static holds, twisting exercises, leg lifts etc. helps in building muscle. *Most people don't understand they are constantly either gaining fat, or losing fat. There is no in-between. Some people justify binging or giving up because they hit a small road-block. This isn't an all or nothing game. For example, when I was overweight, if I ate an unhealthy lunch, I'd go ahead and eat an unhealthy dinner since I already "messed up" the day.
Or I'd say, I'll start eating healthy on Monday since I've already eaten poorly this weekend. Every person at times eats too much. The successful people will not let a road bump completely derail their entire lifestyle change. If you are not implementing positive lifestyle changes and losing weight, you are gaining weight. Again, there is no "in-between."
Eating right is also very important. Ultimately fitness is very important. And to get a fit body you need to eat healthy nutrition rich food. You should avoid alcohol as it slows down your metabolism thereby slowing down the rate at which fat burns. You should also avoid saturated fats, which settle as fat cells, which we are trying to burn. Avoid eating cakes, pastries candies etc. as well. Eat protein rich food like fish, eggs, meat, nuts or take protein supplements.
Eat small portions of nutrition rich food which throughout the day. This way you will avoid excess calorie intake at one time. You should increase your water intake. You should drink around 2 liters of water daily. This will also help you remain hydrated.
Eat more of whole grains than refined grains. The most important thing to remember is that you should eat less in your dinner and eat at least two hours before you go to bed. This will help in better digestion and also avoids formation of more fats in your body. Ken Keogh is a personal training fitness professional working out of Melbourne, based in Frankston.
