Commonly people get really excited about exercise and start working out really hard for about the duration of one or two weeks. This is a great way to get some immediate caloric burn and to get all pumped up, but real physical change comes from actual life styles changes.

It is necessary to understand that nutrition and rest are both key elements in health. Whether you are trying to lose weight or gain muscle, you are still going to need to use both of these in conjunction with healthy exercise.

Exercise alone is sort of like the catalyst that causes the muscle to grow and develop. It spurs the chemical reactions that are necessary for muscle growth, but it does not actually build muscle.

In fact, as you exercise you are only tearing your muscles apart. Once you have sufficiently ripped, torn and shredded your muscles, then your body takes proteins and other nutrients from your diet to rebuild and fortify the damaged muscle.

Meaning if you do not get proper nutrition rich meals, than your workouts will have little to no effect and can actually be counterproductive. When trying to bulk up in mass, obviously you will need to get more sustenance.

An effective way to get good nutrients is through protein shakes. They are low in fat calories and carb calories, meaning all energy expenditure will go first to muscular development, if you have provided your body with the proper catalyzing strain to promote enlargement.

Drink a shake before and after each routine, doing this will give you extra energy during the workout and also help you recover afterwards as well. Besides protein you will also need a good amount of fruit and veggies too.

Vegetables have a great amount of nutrients that are going to speed up protein synthesis in the body. Without the nutrition from your veggies you are going to have a hard time actually putting that protein into use.

Lastly you need good rest. Sleep is going to take up one third of your life, so make it count.

During sleep is when the body goes into hyper drive recovery mode. Your brain actually shuts off so that your nerves and neurons can be operated on by cells in the body.

In rest you will not only reclaim and grow more muscle, but you will also be developing muscle memory. This is going to help you use your muscle more effectively the next time you are set in a situation you have already encountered.
