Homeostasis, it is the biological term for balance and it is in everything that lives, from the smallest organisms to the great complex mechanisms of the human body. Nature has provided many ways to stay healthy without medications, antibiotics, or any drugs for that matter.
It is the anthropic principle: the structure of the universe is so complex that it couldn't have been created by accident. Life is reflected as it expands outward, the structure of an atomic particle is just a micro-image of a solar system, and compounds are just dusty galaxies spread across the black space of the sky.
When you stare into the heavens you actually see infinity stretched in both directions, it is only your perspective that is limiting. Just how nature has created structures within galaxies to flow, interact, and cooperate without conflict, so can your body work without stress, pressure or anxiety.
Holistic approaches, Mother Nature's intention consisting of exercise, nutrition and rest. These are the three key principles for health and wellbeing of any sort, whether it is spiritual health, mental health or physical health.
The body feeds on resistance it is the catalyst that causes muscle growth, caloric burn and cardio expansion. Resistance usually comes from exercise, or is usually considered to be exercise.
Nutrition is going to provide the ingredients for the chemical reaction caused by the by the exercise, and rest is going to provide the cooking time allowing your body to repair and rejuvenate. These three principles don't just maintain strength, but they also deflect disease of any kind.
Today is the digital age of man-kind: people work on computers, eat for convenience, and sacrifice sleep. Years ago people would work on the farms to protect their bodies and their property, now both of these are insured by society and state.
So the battle for health isn't one of a physiological nature but rather of a spiritual nature. You have to fight against slothful addictions to poor nutrition, lethargy of the mind, and lack of motivation.
As organisms progress through life they require more to stay healthy. A plant needs no resistance to bloom it only needs sunlight, water and nutrient rich soil.
Living like a plant will start to degrade your intelligence to a similar level, you will become as motionless and thoughtless as the unconscious weed. Even though you may be beautiful, you can find no joy unless you have purpose and goals to work toward.
Even though nature has provided us with a space where homeostasis is made possible, we have to be moving constantly otherwise life will leave you behind and off balance. Find beauty in the simplicity around you and find joy in the resistance you find in daily life. Destry Masterson is a health, fitness and nutrition expert.
