Condition Your Mind And Body

The way you think is purely habitual, every thought that comes into your head throughout the day is just a reconstructed version of something you have already thought. Not to say learning new thoughts is impossible, but it is not likely to happen unless you go out of your way to do it.

Operant conditioning was developed to condition small animals to act a certain way. Conditioning other people is illegal unless you are a personal trainer or have a license for practice, but you can start training yourself at any time you want.

It requires four things: positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, positive punishment, and negative punishment. Now if you are trying to build mass on your body or just become slender and lean, you will need to adjust your workouts and diet accordingly.

This conditioning practice is something close to meditation. Every time you eat healthy or work out try to recognize your qualities and congratulate yourself for being disciplined and motivated.

Doing this is going to make physical development more comfortable, it may sound silly and juvenile but these methods put into practice actually makes a huge difference. This is called positive reinforcement, and it is providing a stimulus that promotes good behavior, in this case it is positive thought.

Negative reinforcement should be done when doing things you are not as proud of or that may be counterproductive. If you find yourself gorging on some pecan pie-which is very fattening-you should tell yourself the things you should be doing, and try to recognize how much you really do not enjoy eating pecan pie.

This probably sounds like an extremely pessimistic thing to do, and it is, but it actually helps you to avoid eating foods that are unhealthy. If you really want to be fit, then you are going to have to give up poor nutrition and lethargic behavior.

Positive punishment and negative punishment are confusing terms, but both are effective methods to conditioning yourself. Positive punishment is the adding of a stimulus to disconcert bad behavior.

For example if you are eating something that is not healthy or being lazy, find some way to punish yourself. You could have someone provide an electric shock or even just verbal abuse.

Negative punishment is going to be done by taking away something that is stimulating or fun. So if you are behaving badly do not allow yourself to watch television or play games until you have done what needs to do.

Start conditioning yourself now, concentration and motivation are both practicable skills that can be developed and learned. Try to motivate yourself to do good things and persuade yourself from doing anything bad.
