The brain resonates at different oscillations at different times during the day, depending on whether or not you are excited, relaxed, stoic, complacent, bored, stimulated, tantalized, concerned, or whatever it may be. The brain produces a certain amount of energy which comes out as a wave length, during consciousness it is usually between an alpha and beta wave, ranging from nine to thirty hertz.
If you are in beta wave thinking you are relaxed, careless and probably almost asleep this will be when your brain is resonating around nine Hz. When you are in alpha mode you are thinking or concentrating on something and you are resonating at thirteen to thirty hertz.
Now keeping your mind focused during exercise is a very hard thing to do, and to put forth as much energy as you would like you have to be able to maintain a high level of oscillating brain waves. If you cannot keep your mind focused on the workout you are not going to be able to work out as long or as hard.
The mind is like a small pond and music is a like a rock. Take the music that pumps you up, allow it to speed up your thought process and raise your mental concentration.
This trick doesn't work as well when you have to think about something at work or in school, but for exercise where you simply need to stay motivated it is undoubtedly the best external stimulant available. Other supplemental stimulants will cause detrimental side effects.
Music causes no side effects, other than whatever you are listening to will be engraved into your brain. So if you are listening to rap you are likely going to start liking more rap, and this could have an effect on paradigm you view life from.
You can consciously choose to focus and speed up the brain waves that are affecting your thought and action, or you can allow your body to become a conduit for the energy that is produced through music. The body is adaptable, it music theory some tones harmonize better with others.
The body is not a single note, so it can harmonize with any music. Positive, uplifting, heart pumping music is going to harmonize with the positive, uplifting, heart pumping portions of the mind.
Ripples in water are not going to ripple on top of each other; the greater ripples will determine the smaller ripples in the lake. Let the music create the ripples and follow the pattern and allow your body to work harder by using the energy from the music. Destry Masterson is an author who has written hundreds of articles.
