If you have ever been up a flight of stairs and gotten out of breath it might be time to start thinking of getting fit and healthy! If that isn't the case but you just feel like you'd like a beginners guide to getting on the path to a fitter and healthier body then listen up as I'm about to tell ya!
Quit Smoking: I know it sounds like an obvious thing to say but it is a necessary procedure to get your body starting off on a healthy point. It cuts down lung capacity as well as making you sluggish, you could smoke and try and get fit but what is the point if you are not going to go all the way?
Cut Out The Bad: Get rid of all processed fats and saturated carbs from your life, they will most likely be the foods you love the most but they are the worst things for your body. We are a machine and what we put in them directly effects how we run as a system.
Professional Help: If you are new to working out, consider hiring a session or two with a personal trainer. Your personal trainer can help you to meet your goals and determine a fitness routine that works out for you. Learning from someone who knows more than you do can really boost your confidence. You will get the best possible start on and most likely on a program that you will be able to adhere to.
Be Adventurous: Trying different things when you are going to start a workout routine is a really good idea. Many forms of exercise exist that can give you a great workout but doing the same thing over and over is repetitive and boring. If you are new to working out, you will want to find an activity that is fun for you, and trying out different ways to utilise that activity should always be considered.
Move Around More: Taking breaks from the sedentary position which you will most likely find yourself in throughout the day. This will also help you avoid developing deep vein thrombosis in later life which is an added bonus. Take time to stand up and move your body for around 20 minutes every day. By stretching, you can get your blood flow and circulation increasing, so over your lunch break instead of walking straight to the shop and back have a little mooch around.
Don't Over Do It: When you are working out keep your weight training time to under sixty minutes. After an hour of weight training your body starts to produce more cortisol which is the stress hormone that can block testosterone which is needed to build muscles. This will begin to waste away the muscles instead of build them. Not what you want!
Staying fit doesn't necessarily require a membership to the gym, even with work and family obligations it is still easy to squeeze a fitness routine into your week, you just have to make that little bit of effort. Find routines and exercises that appeal to you and get to work on developing a personal fitness and dietary program that you'll actually look forward to putting in place.
