Everyone knows that protein is an important element for good health and growth. But, most people don't realize what getting too much protein in your blood can do to you.
First, of all let's explain about what types of protein there are. There are 28 amino acids in protein, and humans are naturally capable of coming up with 19 of those just through our own body processes.
That leaves nine essential amino acids that we have to get from the foods that we eat. The 19 that our bodies make are called non-essential amino acids, because it is not essential to try to get them in our food.
One of the essential amino acids is called methionine and this just so happens to be abundant in beans and meat. In beans, the amount of methionine is ideal for human daily requirements; but in meat, the methionine is quite excessive.
Normally, if you just ate the beans for your protein, you'd also have the side benefit of the sulfur that is present in the methionine detoxifying your body of toxic metals. And, then life is good, you live a longer, healthier life with no problems.
However, the big problem with eating meat, though, is that when an excessive amount of methionine is consumed, then there is excessive sulfur. This is a big cause of acidic blood.
Having acidic blood is a very bad thing for the condition of your body. Your blood is supposed to be alkaline if you don't want to get sick, accumulate disease, and have soft bones.
What happens with acidic blood is that you could die from it if your body did not take calcium out of your bones to counteract the acidity. That's right folks, acid blood causes weak bones.
So, you may be thinking that you will just solve the problem by drinking lots of cow's milk. Wrong, cow's milk may have a lot of calcium, but it also has a lot of protein.
Dairy products are essentially liquid and solid forms of meat. They have all the qualities that meat has. The only difference is that they are either liquid, soft, or congealed.
Interestingly, the countries that drink the most cow's milk also have the most osteoporosis. Drinking a lot of that type of milk will do a lot towards making your blood acidic.
And, while you may be consuming a lot of calcium too to hopefully build bone strength, the acidifying effect is too great. You end up losing more calcium than is ever gained, even from taking calcium pills in addition.
You still lose calcium from your bones, and whamo, you've eventually got a full blown case of osteoporosis. So, the moral of the story is to avoid the dairy products like the plague, have meats sparingly, and dig in to those humble yet delicious beans.
You only need two half-cup serving of beans a day along with vegetables, fruits, and grains to keep your blood alkaline enough for good health and to have the protein you need for growth and repair of your body.
