There are times in the year (the holidays) where it is close to impossible not to gain another ten to twenty pounds. Luckily, there are ways to beat those cravings that hound you throughout daily life.
Quick lesson: the body develops habits within two weeks, and breaks habits within three weeks. So if you can do something consistently for two weeks continuing to do it will become easier and easier, and if you can stop doing something for a consistent three weeks you will surpass the hump and not doing it will become easier.
That applies well here because most cravings are also going to be something close to an addiction. Addictions come in many different forms at many different levels; for example, caffeine is addictive but not close to as addictive as cigarettes are.
Cigarettes are not going to make you gain tons of weight, but they will give you lung cancer and slow down your brain functions. Caffeine on the other hand also won't make you gain weight, but it too will slow down cognitive functioning to a very lower proportion than the cigarettes.
More realistic pseudo-addictions (or cravings) are going to be things like chocolate, sweets, cakes and all the pudding that you are tempted with every day. Not saying that you are addicted to sweets like a drug addict; that is only for you to decide.
There are two different contributing factors that lead to cravings: one is emotion and the other is physical exertion. Simply by walking for fifteen minutes you can cut your cravings in half.
According to a study done by U.K. researchers, in a study with 78 people who were avid chocolate eater, people who walked for fifteen minutes before being sat at a desk of chocolate ate fifty percent less than their hungry counterparts. That shows that physical exertion actually decreases the bodies craving for sweet foods.
In fact, as you diminish your desire to eat unhealthy chocolates for meals, you simultaneously build a desire to eat healthier foods. Keep that in mind as you start your next exercise program.
Diet is just as important as exercise is, and just as much as your diet affects your exercise so does your exercise effects your diet. Start exercising for a better diet, and with a little time and self-discipline you will be eating spinach and green been casseroles and liking it.
Right now that may seem like an impossible feat, but, you will see, it is actually possible to develop a desire to eat healthy foods. As crazy as it sounds, it is in fact true.
Just do it for two weeks and if it doesn't get any easier, then give it up, but after two weeks you will be hooked and eating good for life. This is the secret to getting flat chiseled abs.
