Many people are trying to lower their cholesterol by visiting the doctor and taking medications. However, it's much easier and more effective to lower your cholesterol by changing what you eat.
The foods that are the highest in cholesterol are the foods that will raise your cholesterol. Basically, you eat cholesterol to get cholesterol.
So, what are the foods that are high in cholesterol? Well, there is the typical beef consumption that is targeted first as a major cause of cholesterol buildup in the body.
Doctors and nutritionists usually tell people to cut back on consumption of beef. And, it's true that beef does have cholesterol.
But, what most people don't look at is that fish, chicken, pork, milk, cheese, and eggs also have an ample supply of cholesterol. It's not actually necessary to eat animal products in order to get cholesterol.
Cholesterol is needed by the body in small amounts daily. But, your liver will manufacture the amount of cholesterol that you need even if you are only eating oatmeal or beans.
It's not necessary to eat cholesterol in order to get the small amount of cholesterol that you need everyday. Women need about 7 milligrams and men need about 10 milligrams of cholesterol daily to help with hormones and other body functions.
When you are active, you need a little more; say three to six extra milligrams. You may already have an overabundant and ample supply of cholesterol.
Too much is not good. All plant foods have zero cholesterol, so if you ate an apple a day, that is zero cholesterol. Remember the saying that "an apple a day keeps the doctor away."
Well, it's the same for all fruits. If you eat bananas, oranges, berries, and pineapple, again there is no cholesterol. Fruits tend to be cleansing and have natural vitamins, fiber, and help you to have energy.
The more fruit you eat, the more you will be satisfied with something sweet and nourishing instead of something from an animal that has cholesterol.
The next time you are thinking of getting an Egg Mcmuffin from McDonalds for a quick breakfast, maybe you should rethink your strategy. Just go to the closest grocery store and grab an apple or a couple of bananas instead.
That will give you another fast and tasty breakfast option that will fill you up, but not with cholesterol. That means that over time, you could lower your cholesterol a bunch of significant points.
