When we exercise we burn up a lot of energy, but because we are putting our body under so much stress sometimes our body will take energy from any source just so it can simply cope with what is being asked of it. When this becomes the case the body can break down muscles, carbon dioxide, and other salts, proteins and fats to create the energy that is needed to keep the body functioning at an efficient peak through hyper or hypo stressful environments. Though our body is a very fine tuned machine and has a solution for most problems that it faces but sometimes the solution isn't the best route to take i.e. breaking down muscle when you are trying to build upon them. With this knowledge now readily available to most of us, scientists and professionals are looking into this biological oddity and trying to work out how we can fix the problem and get a more efficient outcome.
Every single body reacts differently to different circumstances but the basic building blocks that make us are all the same are, so though it may not work for everyone the concept should as a majority. Specialised compounds and supplements are mixed together to give exactly back what is lost via exercise but in some cases they can be dramatically more or dramatically less all depends on what level of exercise you do. These supplements are basically made out of proteins, carbohydrates, sugars and vitamins but at a very high percentage of concentration, sometimes containing your entire daily recommended intake. Proteins are essential when it comes to trying to build muscle as that is the key building block of muscles and by giving the body the right levels of protein prior and post of a work out you can be sure that your body will not use up any other protein based resources from around the body to provide the energy.
You might see some scary looking ingredients in the nutritional list on the side of the supplement package of choice but don't panic too much. When you are seeing items like Phosphorous or Glutamine it's easy to think 'oh god this stuff will kill me if I consume it' well yes you'd be right if you consumed a high intake of them but in small controlled doses they can do some seriously wonderful things to help replenish your body to a stable state after exercise. Glutamines for example is the most abundant amino acid in the human body and around over 70% of our muscles are contracted out of it and is used within the energy creation and transferal for the tissue itself. So if you are worried about what you are consuming, do some research and look up exactly what it does and if it is needed for the body. Most of the time it's all good things but that doesn't mean every product out there doesn't have any bad things lurking around it so if in doubt...research!
