Life just seems to get more and more complex as days go on, that is because researchers keep delving deeper and deeper into the inner mechanics of the body and, well, the world too. Inside your fantastic body are a lot and lot of microorganisms called cells.
You yourself are something similar to an organism, seeing how you are made of different organs. Microorganisms are a lot like you except they are just micro sized, not to be confused with microwave, two totally different things.
The reason things get complicated is because those microorganisms need food just like you do. So what happens is the food you eat is broken down into very tiny itty bitty bits and then fed to the cells in the body.
It gets even more confusing when you try naming all the different nutrients. For example watch, there is calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, iron, and those are just some minerals.
Besides minerals you have vitamins, amino acids, lipids, and your proximates. So yeah, there is a lot of confusing technically jargon that would take at least a few health and nutritional classes to learn completely and actually understand.
Instead of having you read a physician's research document, you can see it in layman's terms. All that food that you eat is made up of those different nutrients: minerals, proteins, vitamins, lipids and other things too.
Each food's nutritional level is measured by how much valuable nutrients it holds. Chia seeds have more nutrients than dirt, and that is why generally you can live a healthy life by eating chia seeds rather than by eating dirt.
Though, not to slam dirt completely, there are trace amounts of minerals in there that are going to do your body good. But the problem is they are so few and far between that eating dirt is just going to upset the stomach and cause more problems than it would fix.
So item one for your healthy food storage collection, chia seeds. They store easy, they are easy to prepare, and they have crazy ridiculous amounts of protein, fiber, vitamins, and nutrients.
Yup these things are packed with pretty much everything. Then you have foods like avocados.
From a holistic point of view this are not as good as chia seeds, but they are going to target the health of a very specific organ in the body, the brain. These avocados hold lipids (healthy fats) that the brain need for proper maintenance, so eat avocados for a good smarts.
However, if you are trying to get your cockatoo to speak, feeding him avocadoes will not make him smarter, largely because all birds are severely allergic to avocadoes, just a fact.
